Protection / SGBV
Protects women and children from gender-based violence through prevention, response, and survivor support services.
WCCO is committed to protecting women, children, and vulnerable community members from abuse, exploitation, and gender-based violence (GBV). In a context where conflict, displacement, and insecurity heighten protection risks across Somalia, our programs provide critical safeguards for those most at risk, particularly women and girls in IDP camps and underserved host communities.
Prevention & Awareness
We conduct community-based prevention and awareness activities designed to challenge harmful social norms, reduce stigma around GBV, and encourage early reporting. These efforts engage community leaders, men and boys, and local structures to build a shared responsibility for protection.
Response & Case Management
Our program provides confidential case management and referral services for survivors of GBV, connecting them to medical, legal, and psychosocial support. We work with health facilities and other service providers to ensure survivors receive timely, coordinated, and dignified care.
Psychosocial Support & Safe Spaces
WCCO establishes safe spaces where women and children can access psychosocial support, counseling, and peer support in a secure and trusted environment, helping survivors begin the process of healing and recovery.
Child Protection
Our community-based child protection mechanisms identify and respond to cases of abuse, neglect, and exploitation, working closely with families and local structures to keep children safe and connected to protective support systems.
Through this integrated approach, WCCO ensures that survivors receive dignified, confidential support while working proactively with communities to prevent violence before it happens — building safer, more protective environments for women and children across Somalia.
