At Women and Children Concern Organization (WCCO), we believe that sustainable development begins with empowering communities to overcome economic vulnerability and food insecurity. Our Livelihood and Food Security programs are designed to transition vulnerable households — particularly women-headed families, pastoralists, smallholder farmers, and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) — from emergency dependency toward long-term economic self-reliance and climate resilience.

Climate-Smart Agriculture & Smallholder Support
We support small-scale farmers to boost crop productivity and adapt to recurrent climate shocks such as droughts and floods.
Agricultural Inputs
Provision of certified seeds, modern farming tools, and environmentally friendly fertilizers.
Farmer Field Schools (FFS)
Hands-on training on soil conservation, efficient irrigation techniques, crop diversification, and pest management.
Irrigation Infrastructure
Rehabilitation of canal systems, installation of solar-powered water pumps, and water harvesting structures.

Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA)
Establishing community-managed savings groups to increase financial inclusion and provide capital for small businesses.
Business Start-up Kits
Granting seed capital, tools, and mentorship to emerging women entrepreneurs to launch sustainable micro-enterprises.

Livestock & Pastoralist Resilience
Livestock is the backbone of rural Somali livelihoods. WCCO works to protect animal assets and enhance herd productivity.
Veterinary Care & Mass Vaccination
Conducting livestock health campaigns and distributing essential veterinary supplies.
Fodder Production & Management
Training pastoralists in pasture restoration, silage production, and dry-season feed preservation.
Restocking Initiatives
Providing small ruminants (goats/sheep) to households that have lost livestock to severe droughts.

Cash-Based Interventions (CBI) & Asset Creation
We combine immediate relief with long-term community infrastructure development.
Multipurpose Cash Assistance (MPCA)
Direct cash transfers to severely affected families to meet immediate basic needs with dignity.
Cash-for-Work (CFW)
Engaging community members in public asset creation — such as road repairs, soil bund construction, and community canal clearing — injecting income directly into local economies.
